Hi everyone, good to be here. Not much on technical stuff, for me it either works or it does not. I use a .62 cal fusil with a 42 inch barrel. I live in the woods, Wychwood Forest. Been doing this for a long time now, but still learning! That is why I joined this group. Regards, Keith.

Hi Keith, This black powder stuff really grows on you. That must be a heck of a ball you shoot. How much does it weigh? _________________ Born in the Pineywoods of East Texas a long long time ago.

Hi Keith
We welcome any and all to to our little group. You will have to tolerate pennypinching and overall cheapness to be happy with us. That is the mission statement of this site. I'm looking forward to hearing about anything you guys have to bring up about this hobby. My big thing is rooting out gun bargains and fixing up the junkers. The other Ned

Like I said Ironwood, not very technical. Actually I did know the ball weight one time, but just can't remember now. Yes it is a fair size, but being a smoothbore it is very versatile. Not as heavy as a .75, but big enough for larger game. I do have a little .32 cal firelock as well, used to train my boys, but have not used it for a while. Keith.

My main interest in muzzle-loading is it's use as a survival tool, it worked 300 years ago, and it works now. I am a woodsman, I live in a forest. My main interest is early 18th century Living History and Historical Trekking. Main period 1700-1760, but this involves some research into the late 17th century as well.
Using my period gear for historical trekking, and practicing the primitive wilderness survival skills as part of our normal activities, I/we are ready for any survival situation that shoul arrive, except for a nuclear attack, and I see no point in preparing for that.
Pennypinching? Well I don't see the point in spending money when you don't have to, so we make a point of advising group members as to what to look for, and where it can be found, and this covers everything from period clothing materials to equipment. I have studdied and taught wilderness survival methods and skills, and in my opinion, for long term wilderness survival, you can not beat 18th century technology.
