Hello Friends,
I went to a gun show today with a friend of mine I live in Ohio actually I live in the geographical center of Ohio and the show was in Athens which was 1.5 hours away and this part of Ohio is to say the least economically depressed. Which means that guns are priced about what I would consider normal. I am not in the market for anything which is why I saw a lot of stuff I wanted, but this is the week before ML season so every peddlar had something that represented a front stuffer on their table. It is amazing to me the prices that some people are willing to put on these guns and actually think someone will buy them. I saw a ragged out CVA hawken that a guy wanted $159 for but he was going to give me a deal at $135! I would not have paid $40.00 for it! I guess that most of these guys work on the "bigger fool principal" so I had to walk away before I laughed in his face. I always try to educate myself on something before I buy it and I know what something is worth and what people are willing to pay which in my opinion is really what something is worth. These people will robb you blind and not even blink an eye, I like to peddle guns here and there but I can't lower myself to some of these guy's levels, it just is not right. So I guess I am wondering if this is just in Ohio or is it everywhere and how do you deal with someone who doesn't want to deal back? I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and I look forward to feed back.

Hi Andy
The overpriced junk is everywhere. You have probably read my post about my CVA Kentucky. You must muster the nerve to shoot them a price that you would be willing to pay( no matter how much they were asking) and take the fake outrage they put on. After all i'll bet they didn't pay hardy anything to get it in the first place. Let them have their POS. gun ,at least you had fun screwing with them. They get the fun of dragging it to the shows year after year. If you do someday find one you could possibly buy, check the bore first. Bring a cleaning jag with you in the calibers you are interested in and some white patches. The ram rods are usually threaded, so you could usually use that. If you pull out a lot of rust with the patch, you know you have a bargening chip to use. If you feel a loose spot as you push the patch down, you likely have a ringed barrel . You don't want that at all. Pass on the gun unless, they are giving it away. That's it for now . Ned

This is an old thread, but I'm going to post on it anyway. Try coming to Texas. Price inflation goes up faster that hot helium if you look like you don't know what you're talking about. I've gone in dressed in business attire and get huge high price quotes, but went the next day and thay wanted to talk buddy-buddy when I'm in camo!
